Join the Magical crew to be part of this hugely beneficial event and we’re certain you’ll have lots of fun. Volunteering is a fantastic way to make friends, learn new skills and is a cost-effective way to attend the festival. Volunteers will:
Work alongside the production team to answer questions from festival goers, take cashless wristband payments and communicate programme changes to staff & public. Great for those with good organisational skills!
Be the face of Magical! You’ll be the first contact guests and performers have on arrival, so it’s an important role. You’ll be operating the guest list, issuing wristbands and pointing people in the right direction. It’s super exciting meeting all of the festival goers, bands and DJs as they turn up!
Be the eyes & ears of Magical! You’ll be out and about in pairs/teams within the main arena and car park, making sure customers are having maximum fun and keeping safe, as well as keeping the festival spic & span. You’ll be in radio contact with production, relaying information to staff and the public. Great for those wanting experience with event management!
Want to get super-involved? Join our production team to help steer the ship! There are a number of ways to be involved, in advance of the event, during or both. Manage a stage, lead an area, liaise with artists and problem solve. You will need to attend extra training sessions in advance with the Magical directors, share our huge passion for running the festival, be super-enthusiastic and flexible with your time (i.e. work more than the three 6-hour shifts!). You’ll be part of the core crew, learn new skills and have a big opportunity to input your creativity and ideas into this Magical project.
We’ve got a range of creative photo and video roles, including general festival photographers, dedicated band photographers, build videographer (shoot, edit and release a video of the build before the doors open to the public), and news report videographer (working with a presenter).
You’ll have previous experience of working in a bar and be over the age of 18 at the time of the festival. You’ll be working with our amazing experienced bar manager in the centre of the action, serving hot and cold drinks and chatting with customers. Fancy dress is optional essential!
Help to make the site look truly magical. Decorate an area with our decor supplies, get busy with bunting, or bring out your creative genius and create a masterpiece. You’ll need to be onsite for at least 3 days of the build for this role (Mon 15 July – Thurs 18 July).
If you’re practically minded and handy at DIY, this is the role for you! Assist with the setup of the festival by helping the site manager install temporary fencing, flags, festoon lighting, signs and large-scale decor. If you’re handy with a hammer and can build stuff (either onsite during the build, or at home in advance) – do let us know! You’ll need to be onsite for at least 3 days during the build (Mon 15 July – Thurs 18 July) for this role. Then you have the whole festival weekend free to party!
Help us take down the festival straight after it’s closed to the public. Pack away decor, tidy away festival supplies and help to clean up the festival site. Available dates: Mon 22 – Thurs 25 July.
Arrange for the crew to be fed and watered during the build and break phase. Set up the cereals/fruit for breakfast, sandwiches/fillings for lunch, and organise dinner (order a takeaway, or cook on the Magical BBQ). Keep jugs of water fresh and topped up, and the crew area tidy. Available dates: Mon 15 July – Thurs 18 July for the build, and Tues 23 – Thurs 25 July for the break.
Apply for an arts grant to show off your beautiful creation at Magical.
Calling all bands, DJs, solo artists, dancers, performers & comedians!
